GULLI GAMES

When i was younger, we stayed in a neighbourhood where every kid came out of the house at 4 pm to play a round of games. The neighbourhood was safe, no supervised nannies, no enclosed parks, fortunately no kidnappers and very few vehicles. Then we indulged in every form of game that imagination could allow. Football and cricket, if played, were with improvised balls. The games though that were more popular, if they have be given names, can loosely be known as "seven stones", "dog and bone", "bahuchori" - a form of baseball without bat and ball, hide and seek and of course marbles. There were many innovations and rules to suit our needs. The best thing was participation was assured and players ranged from 5 yrs to 15 yr, without gender bias!!!
As I see my son go to his swimming, tennis, guitar, art lessons I cannot but wonder how lucky I was. To Kill a Mocking Bird is one book that has captured those days of guileless fun so adequately. The days of TV and Internet have perhaps changed those ways forever.
This blog is dedicated to those days of simple uncomplicated fun. I promise I will try to keep it simple and entertaining.
